Hi! I'm Surbhi

I am an Architect and Sustainability Strategist dedicated to designing for a more resilient and equitable future.

 Towards a resilient future...

My Journey
Foundations: Decoding the Built Form
My journey began with a deep dive into architectural logic - mastering the technical rigor of how built forms interact with their physical environments. This phase was about understanding the "how": the physics of structure and the intuition of site-responsive design.
Pedagogy: Synthesizing Knowledge
Transitioning into academia allowed me to bridge the gap between complex environmental science and actionable design. By fostering systemic thinking in my students, I refined my own ability to translate abstract sustainability goals into tangible, high-performance design strategies.
Circularity: Designing for Global Resilience
Following my journey ahead in the Design for Sustainability program at SCAD, I mastered the art of scaling impact through systems thinking and circularity. This specialist training allows me to look beyond individual outputs to design for regional and global resilience.
Practice: Grounding Design in Reality
In professional practice, I moved from theory to impact. My work centered on the "resilience of the existing" - prioritizing adaptive reuse and climate-responsive retrofitting to ensure that the buildings of today can withstand the environmental shifts of tomorrow.

"The world is a complex, interconnected, finite, ecological-social-psychological-economic system. We treat it as if it were not, as if it were divisible, structureless, hierarchical, and amenable to rigid prediction and control."
